This was indeed the germans and french point of view yes. The Leopard 1 and AMX 30 where all designed to be very mobile, fast, and mean dead accurate with a powerfull punch. And they did that. At first our minister of defense, crembo wanted to get rid of all tracked vehicles, included the 280+ leopards we have. But heavy protest has led to 40 leopards to remain in service.
Yeah, they are strange times. I know the Dutch have phased out their Leopards, and I think among smaller nations it will probably be a trend given the expenses involved. In America we tend to allocate so much of our money to the military that our problem is having too many toys, and well no healthcare or social services. I could rant about this country forever though, so I will keep it that.
More on topic, I am skeptical on how they are going to handle tier 10 mediums in the game. Given mobility is already more valuable than armor in most situations, it just seems like things can snowball with even more capable mediums. In clan wars we run a lot of T110s because they are basically giant mediums with bigger guns. If the Patton had similar health and a comparable gun in some way, we would probably shift towards a really medium heavy strategy.
Imagine a swarm of Patton 48s/T62As backed up by some Batchat 155s. You probably would have one of the most fluid and difficult to stop attacks imaginable, since your whole team could basically go anywhere on the map they wanted with massive firepower.
