Need Cartoons that Show Cultural Barriers
« on: 05-10-2013, 22:10:02 »
As title says, I'm in need of 'diversified' cartoons which demonstrate or poke fun at cultural barriers between countries. Thus, I figured what better place to turn to than the FH community, considering how diversified we are... I could get tons of cartoons from the US perspective, but what fun would that be?  :D Post 'em up ladies...  :-*

This one made me laugh back then. Was about some planned circumcision-ban on new born babies in Germany a year ago. Some people feared if that ban really was to be introduced, Muslims etc. wouldn´t have their children circumcised in hospitals but by some dubious persons. Big discussion about it, so if it´s for some project, you will find plenty of stuff about it on the internet. One side said it was assault and hurt the child´s physical integrity. Others said the right of the parents to choose and life after a certain Religion was to be judged higher and that they should also be allowed to choose this Religion for their children.

- "Oh, oh, today is just not my day!"
- "Don´t worry, soon it´s going to be legal!"

He got banned for our sins. He was not the member FH forums deserved, he was the member we needed.

Old conflicts too?

@Butcher, I think I might remember something about that a little while back- or similar at least... this is for a school assignment therefore, not sure if I want to use something that "graphic."

@Nighthawk, old conflicts will work, too, I suppose. I think more recent 'conflicts' or even just wrong cultural interpretations would be more relevant. However, if you have them handy, by all means, please post 'em.

I think the Mohammed cartoons are probably the best example?

Comb the "Found this on the internet" thread. There's a lot of cultural cartoons there.

"Of course you can't slap a child for educational purposes!"
"What an example would you give your children then, huh?"
