"O' Clock" system for vehicles.
« on: 20-04-2010, 02:04:32 »
Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if there was a little "O' Clock" indicator for vehicles so when you're hitching a ride with a tank and you spot an enemy you could easily yell out "Enemy Tank 5 O' Clock" so the tank driver would know where to look.

doesn't everybody have those positions memorized from playing Il-2 anyway?  I can't support this because its wasted work.

Pretty good Idea, I would support... it would also prevent your crew from being clueless (especially the hull gunnner and commander) when they hear the driver shooting). Oh, btw, sexy drawing... ;) You seem to be amoung the many talented artist on this forum.... 8)

Yes, because everyone played IL-2/has a mic. Not really wasted work, just extra Work

It'd be nifty, but we might be running low on room for the commrose.

I'm against it, cause everyone nowadays should be educated enough to know how an analogue watch looks like and I have never met anyone who defines the directions other than in respect to the forward direction of the tank he is in.

Guys we have such nice surprises for you in the next patch, just wait.

Vehicles in BF2 have custom commo-rose for each - as well as role-specific commo-rose

'oclock can be added in - It kinda works better in a ROSE format though as the clock face is best represented that way. Maybe make default trasparancy higher so that it doesn't black the whole screen.

If you CAN see my concept pic, cuz for some reason it refuses to open for me today, you might get what I mean

I like this idea. Is it possible to show this message only for people in same vehicle? If not, I don't like this idea. And hanky, I think clock numbers are actually more simple than degrees. In PR you sometimes have to point out enemy 600m-1000m away hiding, so you need very precise way to tell where you see enemy. On FH, with much faster gameplay, it's easier to put just 12 numbers and commorose for fast use.

It is... even each position can have a different version of the rose... For instance, the hull gunner gets to shout 'enemy infront' etc, while the tank commander/ driver radios it over...

I really like this idea. The only thing that I can see that's against it, is that the devs would need to record the voices for all the different countries. And we all know how difficult that is for the devs. Unless you want it to be a text based message, that would work as well.

What we need is good voice actors from all the different countries so that we can have custom messages, just like this one, instead of the bf1942 ones.
