Call of Duty 4 multiplayer
« on: 14-06-2009, 20:06:57 »
I've never played this online before so I've been thinking about giving it a go; should I play the in-built multiplayer or is there a mod I should go for?

To my knowledge CoD4 wasn't modded very much, so you're probably not going to find any very popular mods.

The vanilla multiplayer is solid enough though, so long as you're okay with doing a lot of spraying and praying.

Actually, the multiplayer in COD4 is without a doubt its strenght. You should definitely try it!

(prepares to be hated for my treason)
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

play in hardcore mode/servers  much more fun imho. removed hud much deadlier weapons, moves the game from almost UT game style to much more realism/tactical gaming. it is still COD and arcade like hell but in hardcore i played for quite a couple of months.

my favorite layouts:
Stealth - P90+silencer, UAV-Jammer, Silent Movement, Bomb-squad (to get past claymores), Desert Eagle and Stun grenades.
Perfect for fast flanking maneuvers and then coming up from behind for awesome knifing action.

MG - RPK+Grip+Doubble Tab(doubles rate of fire) + Deep Impact.
rips through buildings and kills with 1 hit in hardcore, extreme rate of fire but still controllable with the grip, very deadly.

Marksman - G3+silencer, UAV-Jammer, deep impact, claymores. Silent 1 shot kill rifles with great penetration and claymores to cover your back.

havent played this in quite some time but it was great fun back in the days :D

Lol first 2 layouts were EXACTLY the same with me.

And i had one more favorite, M40 with ACOG, deep impact, stopping power and claymores.

We played alot of inhouse games last year at school to great fun. As much as cod4 gets railed by us snooty types, it is a fantastic multiplayer game.

I loved m249 with doubletap,
Scorpion SMG with quick load (little fucker has NO recoil)
and pump shotty with more hp.

oh, and m40 with acog for some nice old fashioned bolt action fun.

CoD MP was pretty fun. I stopped playing once I got to around level 47... only because it started to get very repetitive and boring.

Anyway my weapon of choice was the M4. Say what you like about it but I loved it, couldn't find anything better.

I played it a lot too, it was Amazing :) Fun, and frustrating at time when you keep getting slaughtered, but quite fun.

M4 w/ ACOG, Desert Eagle (silver), Deep Impact, Stopping Power, Bandolier, Frag/Smoke x1.

Hardcore only. I don't play so much as when it first came out, usually only when my mates ask me to join them in a game. Good fun though.

I didn't like the singleplayer. There is not a single second without shooting. Spawn, pull the trigger, keep it pulled, mission finished. Not to mentioned the sound of 30 bots shooting alltogether with you. The amount of ammo spend would be enough to kill all life on this planet.

Well, the multiplayer was fun, played 1 vs 1 against a buddy. You can upgrade you skills.

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom
