I know they can do better, but there's more fun things to work on right now. They can always rework it sometime later.. like after the next update comes out  ;D

What do you know about BF2 modding anyway?

And what do you think it should look like?

I kind off agree with Sgt.Loco though, it removes some of the realistic feeling (and look) a flamethrower should have. But i've heard that the BF2 engine is not very good with fire effects, so i'm not going to whine about that.

I know nothing about modding except a little map making. But I do know that the only obstacles and impossibilities are in your head.

You are limited by the Refractor 2 engine, until it becomes open source, there are limits to what you can do

Flamethrower can be very very usefull weapon for your team on pointe du hoc, and can help you capture flakemplacement quite easily. It just requires one flamer who knows what to do. This tactic blocks german spawn in bunker very near of the capzone (or is this spawn actually insede zone, not sure). That spawn anyway is the reason why it sometimes is very hard for US to cap this flag.

Green is way I find most easy to get close with flamethrower.
Red is area you should flame, germans spawn is inside that bunker.
Blue is where majority of US team goes usually, or atleast people who cap this flag.

Heres pictures of bunker itself if you cant remember the spot from map

why don't they make a game about forgotten hope 2
so a game called forgotten hope 2 and not a mod
with a more real engine
like the won in BFBC2(battlefield bad company 2)
so you can destroy every thing and then they can make the flamethrower more real like.
in ww2 films or videos, when you see the  flamethrower in action you see it shoot's out of the barrel in a straight line ;D ;D ;D

Before anyone else answers, let me give you a summarized answer (and then keep it out of this thread).

It's not that simple to just "create a stand-alone game". it has taken 4 years for the mod to come this far, and then there already was a foundation on which to build.
Plus, destructible enviroments is a no-go for modteams of this size.
I see were you are trying to reach: "how can a 17 year old kid have such a thinking like this? why doesnt he wants to be like normal teens who whana get rich? and his plan actually makes sense, but is too damn revolutionary and good at the same time than is still doubthfull if it works..." - Damaso

Would like to see the flamethrower have a ammo gauge - because it runs out of shots eventually.

Well that's why u have ammo boxes lying around  :)

Emm I just had an idea (correct me if I'm talking jibberish). Why not put the flamer in Falaise Pocket,Anctoville and Purple Heart Lane?

no, anctoville and falasise are not american maps. Also, flamethrowers were usually only used in assault scenarios and not widely issued to infantry units.
