I wouldn't hold my breath regarding Battlefront: Star Wars. Seeing how "modern" shooters work, the players will probably be able to tank several turbolaser hits which can be healed by wanking in a cover for a few seconds. Likewise, "game engine footage" does not imply "gameplay footage" -- I would bet that unlike on the video, even anti-tank weapons (anti-AT-AT weapons) need an obscene amount hits to bring down a self-repairing vehicle. (Though, even now it does take a bombardment from a squadron of Y-Wings to take down a single AT-AT, causing no other damage whatsoever to anything else.) And of course, despite the latest mod-unfriendly Frostbite engine that supposedly supports destructible terrain, the trees and other vegetation seem to be made of adamantium. And even if there was a singleplayer/coop campaign, it would be over in a few hours and contain mostly moving on rails interspersed by copious amount of quicktime events. Vader in a game with no other Force users? Sure, that's not overpowered at all.
Now, I can hear you say that there's at least multiplayer dogfight between X-Wings and TIE Fighters. As if. Most certainly without any of the energy management shenanigans that made the X-Wing series so enjoyable, wouldn't count on the variety of weapons and systems available towards the end of the series either. And even bogstandard TIE's probably can take almost as much punishment as a fully shielded Y-Wing because mirror balance. Granted, there was the astrodroid/self-repair system fixing your stuff in the originals too, but it could only repair the damaged systems, not restore hull integrity.
A pessimist is never disappointed, but EA being EA, I would just call it "realism".
