FH2/BF2 won't run on laptop

I've been trying to get BF2 to work on my laptop for a while so that I can play FH2 on it.  After a few hiccups getting it to run, I am now at a brick wall.  The game freezes when it gets to the 'verifing client data' part at the end of loading a map.  It does this in FH2.15, BF2 1.41 and BF2 v1.0.  I have no idea why it won't run, unless its to do with missing drivers or something similar.

Laptop is a HP G70
-Vista home premium sp1 32bit
-Core 2 Duo T5800 2GHz
-3GB RAM
-GeForce 9200M GE

Any ideas?

Get a decent desktop pc.
Nah joking; I don't think it is that, but a friend of mine had similar problems when his key wasn't ciphered right at the end of the install. You might wanna check your registry to see if its right, it should start with x[+ strange combination of numbers and letters).

I once tried BF2 on my laptop and it didn't work. Thing is, some laptops don't support stuff that BF2 uses so it sometimes wont work. Atleast that was the problem for me.

Yes, its in admin mode on min graphic sttings.  PB shouldn't be affecting it since its running local servers, but I'll see if updating that will help.

2 - if you don't know, maybe better don't mess with it, the registry is one of the things in windows that a OS actually doesn't really need but can srsly fuck up your computer. it probably isn't the same problem my buddy had as his game crashed when i tried to join a server. except if you got an error AFTER the installation of bf2?

I've seen people suggesting that if you have Vista and play older games you shouldn't let them install themselves in the Program Files folder. So maybe you could try reinstalling and putting it into something like C:\Games\Battlefield 2\ instead of the usual path it suggest?

OK, so I think I've spotted a possible reason for the freezing.  My laptop doesn't actually have PnkbstrA.exe or PnkbstrB.exe on it anywhere.  Anyone know where I can get these, or if I'll have to copy them from my desktop (which I don't really want to have to do considering they are in the \windows\system32 folder).  I've got the PB auto updater from the site, and running it adds the updates, but not the .exe files.

I've already been there and got those.  When I get home, I'll just bite the bullet and copy the .exe files over and see if they work.
