You guys cant believe how nice it is to read all these messages, and Im only a tester. But I guess I am allowed to feel very good about this because last week just before we finally managed to release 2.2, I had personally tested release candinates for around 18-20 hours. It felt like waking up for work. But it was great anyways. :)

Really pays off reading these comments and its good you guys are mature enough to put the bad things in a good manner and not turn into flaming trolls. It is far more pleasant to read about the bad things when its constructive. Keep it up guys!

@ ottozeimer, you bloody hell nailed the tank combat! That is exactly what makes the tanks unstoppable in normandy. Unlike in africa where the tanks have very little need for infantry (urban areas excluded) in normandy you kinda need to have infantry providing you with eyes at all times or else you will become toast. I especially love to do this on Goodwood as a german. I go to my favorite spot and just keep on spotting tanks for our marders, anti-tank guns and panzers. And even thought it would be nice to get some actual credit (score) for giving a succesful spot for those who claim the kill, I still love doing it a lot. So I like to play with my friends (while in TS2) who use the tanks and Im in my little hideout and spotting approaching tanks and then my friends will take them out. Can easily block off very wide areas of approach with that method!
Ye. In 2.15, you could send inf alone and tanks alone, and they would be wtf pwn

But really, Normandy relies on working together. Tankers need to work together with infantery. And visa versa

Operation totalize, is a HUGE example of this. Work together! Go with ur infantery!  When assaulting those flags with artillery, be a good man, and tank snipe those artillery units down, so ur infantery is safe when capturing that flag. It only needs one Jihadd guy at those Flak 18, to kill the entire squad at the flag.

In return, the infantery can keep away, the increased threat of Panzerfausts/zooks/PIAT/shrecks.  ESPECIALY on Operation Lüttich. I saw the germans lose MANY times, because they went ahead of the infantery.

My short review:

Graphics: Great texturing work and level design. And when you consider the engine is old, I, as a 3d-artist/hobbyist can't do nothing but to give mad props to the developers.

Gameplay: Fast, massive and fun. Still there's lots of room to get serious and go teamwork.
Sometimes I wish the game would emphasize more realism but on the other hand it would probably slow down the gameplay and it's massive ww2 battles developers are looking for.

Audio: Good all around. One thing that would be nice if the artillery explosions could be even more crunchier and deafening. I'm not that scared of artillery at the moment but I definitely should be.

All in all, one of the best and most polished mods I've played.

No scores but lots of respect!

Got 'er installed this evening and managed to play for a couple of hours.  Very nice.  Stable, smooth; had no lag problems at all.    I got one crash playing singleplayer, but I think it was due to not having selected my new sound card.
When I did that, it ran fine.

One of my favorite things to do is man anti-tank guns, and it seems they are a little fragile and seem to take forever to fix if you're an engineer.   I like that the Thompson is no longer a laser.... Though the aperture sight could be a tad bigger...

One thing that consistently bothers me is the seeming ability of the enemy to target me when I think they shouldn't be able to.   Like, crawling through a cornfield (uphill!) and having a machine gunner in the town I'm approaching take me out.     From my perspective, he should neither have been able to see me or target me...Dunno what's going on there.
Having a powerful rig that allows greater resolution/draw distance is obviously an advantage.

Overall, very good!

I never really liked the African campaign, and therefore I've only played FH2(.15) a couple of hours , untill now!

Last night I played maybe 5 hours, and I think I've almost tried out all the new maps. I simply love it! The gameplay is so much fun, and it's possible to get some team-play going even though it's public servers.

The iron-sights are amazing, hard when youre newb, but as you start to get a hang of it its simply amazing. The M1 Garand, G43 and Bren MK is very, very nice. Last night on Goodwood I hung around the Cagny East cap alone and raped alot of germans, I really like the city fighting.

I still have'nt tried any tanks or vehicles in general, or planes. I look forward to flying (local at first), since flying was "my thing" in FH1, so I hope thats awesome too :)

EDIT:

One thing though, jumping over those fences is sometimes so lame, like you have to try a couple of times sometimes. Maybe I just need to learn it.

Also, if I'm commander, I have yet to be able to find that radio you have to sit at. I think it was on OP Totalize.

Keep in mind, that grass and other small foliage isn't drawn on long distances. So while you were hiding in the crops, you may have laid in the wide open for the machine gunner. I don't know if reducing the details in the graphic options reduce the draw distance of foliage too, if it's the case, having a weaker rig may give you additional advantages by forcing you to use low settings.

You can crawl under the most fences in FH2. So no real need to jump them. :)
Commander Radios are mostly found in Main Bases and are marked per Icon on the Minimap.
Just look for a squared symbol looking like a radio. :)
