Radio with CD player/MP3 is a very good investment, there might be a slight problem with finding one that isn't flashy, blinky and bluey. But a normal, yet functional radio has to be out there somewhere.

About ESC/Radio friendly songs etc. Its to music what COD is to FPS, the only good thing ever to come out of ESC is the Epic Sax Guy, and he is still unbeaten.
Get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/FM-Transmitters-MP3-Player-Accessories/b?ie=UTF8&node=13981621
I wouldn't recommend those, they work but the sound quality is bad, real bad. (unless something changed in the last year, you never know)

Depends on the model. I used to have a great quality one which I used to make the cockpit of my XA-200 into a movie theater (watched Slum Dog Millionaire, Mad Max, etc with the alik). Obviously if you have super-hifi stereos it's not good enough, but if you just have a stock FM radio & stock speakers, it's plenty good enough.
It's half naked people on boats. That's all.
Here in Finland we call that "summer".

How sweet.

This is my set: (I hope the pics will load. :P )

If the radio gets any older, I can label it antiquated, selling it to some museum. The funny things is, that people usually compliment me on the sound quality. ;D

I usually imagine my own sounds with it, like `tjunk, tupdieyupdiedee` aaa enemy spotted, ratatatataboom

I'm not that hipster enough for refusing to listen to modern mainstream music. For me, if the atmosphere and situation fits, the music will be good. So every music is event-based for me.

Listening to Pink Floyd, the Beatles, Deep Purple, the Kinks, Bee Gees doesn't make me instantly hate Bruno Mars or Selena Gomez and alike.

There are many of those. Most modern car audio head units can play MP3 very well. Kenwood models are some of the examples. So you just need AUX cable, not that weird big barcode scanner-like FM transmitter.

Whatever you do, don't underestimate the history course, historical method (source criticism, interdisciplinarity) is a hard one. Most likely, if you fail that class, you probably have to do your year again. Other than that, it's going to be fun, you'll meet a lot of like-minded people for you to discuss with etc etc. Also you will get to grip with some very obscure terms such as nicolaism, defenestration of Prague, the Winter King... One more thing: the classes of History of the Modern Period (1789-1945) are rather socialistically inspired at my uni, probably at yours as well.

Acquire some skills for making waffles or taartjes while in Belgium... therefore you don't need to live on negative side of the economy by being historical subject academicians or politicians.

Anyway, congratulations and welcome to your new life!

The Winter King? That sounds awesome

Yes, the Elector Palatine of Bohemia, Frederick V, was elected king in 1619 by the protestant inhabitants, as an act of rebellion against the Austrian Habsburgs, which sparked the Thirty Years War (1618-1648). In 1620, Frederick was defeated by a Hispano-Austrian army and catholic rule was reinstigated. He only ruled during the winter of 1619-1620, hence the Winter King.

Currently I'm not sure what to do with a history degree.  My dad wants me to learn Arabic and do Middle Eastern history, which could be pretty useful for the government and such, though I am primarily interested in the 20th century and the classics.  My sister has a masters in French social history and is currently working toward her doctorate so she can be a professor, which is also something I would like to do, or maybe teach in high school.

And in Belgium, besides assassinating Theta, I am going to Bruges, Brussels, Ypres and the Menin Gate, Waterloo, down to Verdun and maybe Bastogne in France, then perhaps to Luxembourg and Germany for a bit.  An exciting 11 days back in the old world!

Which uni are you going to? And you should visit Mechelen, the birth town (not sure) of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, Margaret of Austria lived here all her life, Beethoven was born here IIRC, and the beer is smashing. And 'tis of course the residence of yours truly. You could pass when going from Bruges to Brussels, with a small detour
