Just wanted to remember all those who sacrificed on all sides. War is hell and our world, through those lessons learned, is a little bit better because of it. So as you play today, take a moment to pay your respects and give thanks for what you have.

Thanks for all the great content over the years. I haven't been able to play as much due to the birth of my son but hopefully in the summer I will have a little Dad time with FH2. ;)

If you had to pick 1 map from each theater...what would those two maps be that could sustain a dedicated 24/7 server where the rotation are the two maps?

My picks..

Mareth Line and Operation Totalize

General Discussion / Night of the server crashes!
« on: 31-03-2010, 16:03:56 »
Played on 3 servers last night and every one of them crashed. Last server was on Cobra...of course I announced to everyone to stay off the tractor...and what happens...some fool gets on the tractor in front of me and I go to blast him with my tank and just as I clicked to fire...server crashes lol.  I don't know what it is but there have been many servers crashing here lately and it's a shame because they are mostly full of players. Most go on to the next server but when those servers crash...it's easier to just not play. I hate not playing...I need my daily fix of FH2.

General Discussion / Please join me in promoting FH2.
« on: 07-03-2010, 05:03:58 »
I think awareness of FH2 is an issue at the moment. Soooooo, I'm going to start promoting FH2 at some of my "nerdherd" and geeky type PC enthusiast sites. With all the intelligent people here in the forums, I know that many of you are members of other communities. Please help spread the word about FH2!!!! With that in mind, if you come across a site where a recent post has been made regarding FH2...post in the thread rather than spam and start a new thread.

Together, I think we can leave a positive vibe about the mod across the net and it would be hell-a-cool to see some new players.

General Discussion / Who are the site/forum admins?

Simple question. And NO, Flippy isn't an admin, he's just a moderator.

General Discussion / Simple request for the forums...

Would it be possible to get a link back to the main Forgotten Hope site placed in the top image banner of the forums please? That would be outstanding if you could do that. that way when you click on the FH pic, it takes you to the main site. I reference the main site all the time when reading the forums. TIA

EDIT: It would be this image:

I used it the other day on a relative's PC and it was oh-my-God phenomenal.  Anyone else try it out? Is this the future of gaming or is it just a fad?

Since The Warrior decided to delete his own thread...which actually was gravitating towards being a great discussion, I decided to bring it back but with a much different perspective.

The first part of this change will come in the link to the cracked.com article itself. I'm going to link it from digg.com for the simple fact that it shows hundreds of user comments that say the same exact thing I did after having read the article for the first time.

http://digg.com/comedy/The_5_Most_Widely_Believed_WWII_Facts_That_Are_Bullshit

My initial reaction to these so called facts was...who in the blue hell believes these things to be fact?

I never see or hear people suggesting that WWII was won by America single handedly. What I do hear and know for a fact is that America provided a huge amount of money and weapons to Russia which greatly aided the Russians in their defense against German aggression. We may have come close to single handedly financing the victory but again, Americans know the truth, it was a team effort by the Allies.

In any case, Allies is spelled A L L I E S...not A M E R I C A. Americans get it, we know that our contribution was part of a much larger cause. We all bled together. For those sacrifices, most Americans are extremely grateful.

In the previous thread, there were a few anecdotal claims posted by various members which were trying to provide a base of support for the article. Most of these claims come from children...I'll let you be the judge of their wisdom or lack thereof.

In any case, because of America's screw-ups in Iraq and Afghanistan, I think America bashing is fashionable at the moment. IMO, I think the cracked.com article is just as flawed as the myths it's trying to dispel.

If you want to chime in with your own 2 cents, by all means. And if the thread gravitates towards other matters...so be it. I don't pack up my toys and go home.

Free speech FTW!

General Discussion / What is your most missed map from FH?
« on: 19-02-2010, 16:02:52 »
Mine would have to be the controversial Foy. Damn I loved that map even in the later stages. I also miss Arnhem and Karelia to the nth degree.  Those were fun maps!!!  :'(

Is there still a huge FH1 following?

Very nice map and thanks to the 762nd guys for hosting. I suggest everyone go download it and give it a try.  We had about 20 people in there yesterday and it was a fun map.

Oh yeah, this should probably be a 24/7 Ste Mere Eglise server (hint hint 762nd)

Take a look at the following 3 comm boxes and pick all the things you don't use.

Maybe things could be streamlined based on your inputs. I know I only use auto, armour, infantry, need target, and next and prev target.

Suggestions / Artillery icon for arty spots
« on: 05-02-2010, 23:02:52 »
Since arty strikes seem to attract friendlies, is it possible in one form or the other to allow the arty icon in BF2 to be placed where a friendly calls in a strike so that other friendlies know to get the heck out of the way?

If this action was tied in to the commander's role, maybe it could help prevent battlefield fratricides significantly.

for example, I call in an arty spot, the commander allows it and the arty icon is placed on the minimap for all friendly forces to see.  This would enhance the role of the commander.

Or you could just bypass the CC and allow it for whomever calls in a strike request.

General Discussion / Attention all mongloid campers!
« on: 05-02-2010, 17:02:36 »
DivS-Dude(2) and others....when you camp outside German main on Goodwood without taking the flag directly outside of it or even make an attempt to take it...and then have the fucking audacity to even complain that you yourself are being camped when the tide turns against your favor, well...that just goes to show you what a fucking baby you are.

So for all of you...I have nothing against camping. War is hell. But when a dumb bitch wants to complain about it after she's done it to you for 10 minutes...well hell fucking no, that shit aint right.

These are just some of the things that go on day after day and frankly, I'm tired of hearing about it in-game.

Don't complain about being camped if you are a fucking camper yourself.

General Discussion / I'm addicted to the PaK 40
« on: 02-02-2010, 00:02:07 »
I love that damn thing. Just so much fun to relax and blow people away with it lol. Really fun when a team mate helps you out by pushing you with a vehicle to the front...gets you there much faster lol. Lebisey is a prime example for this team action lol.

Lots of good fights over the damn things as well...Villers Bocage is so much fun. Love battling over the Pak at Crossroads.
