Bug Reporting / Teamkills counting towards awards?
« on: 20-08-2012, 20:08:08 »
This could be a big issue, but I can't confirm it yet... Was playing Sidi Rezegh 32 on Hslan and focused on pistolling... When I shot a teammate (it could have been my very 10th kill) the award popped up... Don't have a screenshot though...

Off-Topic / A plea to help save Flippy's polar cousins!

The fragile Arctic is under threat from both climate change and oil drilling. As climate change melts the Arctic ice, oil companies are moving in to extract more of the fossil fuels that caused the melt in the first place. But above the Arctic circle, freezing temperatures, a narrow drilling window and a remote location mean that an oil spill would be almost impossible to deal with. It's a catastrophe waiting to happen. Greenpeace is working to halt climate change and to stop this new oil rush at the top of the world.

Please, think of the bears!  :P

Sign the petition and let your voice be heard (and your name be written on a flag planted beneath the Arctic ocean, how cool is that?)

Gaming / Blockade Runner - Can Minecraft into Space?
« on: 29-04-2012, 13:04:11 »
Seems like it can, and it features lazorz and less cubical objects, which is actually nice...

Just discovered this indie game on ModDb, looks cool, any opinions? Basically similar to Minecraft in the sense it uses voxel tech and it doesn't look graphically impressive... But the gameplay looks interesting!

Map needs the crippled cruiser HMS York in Suda bay...  ;)

Note that we don't need the actual model, but it would be nice to see a ship there, just for those who are happy to see such small historic references in FH2 maps.

Suggestions / Opening up OOB area for planes
« on: 25-12-2011, 20:12:42 »
Well how many times you were dogfighting with your worst nemesis when suddenly both of you end up in an OOB area with that annoying "return to battle deserter, or you will be shot!".

I suggest opening up the OOB layer for planes on some maps... Like Supercharge... You can barely take off from your main with the Hurri or Beau without ending up in the red zone... And there is so much unused space both on top and on the bottom of the map.

What do you guys think?

Not sure if this is possible to do but here:

While discussing in the Teamwork thread I realized Natty was right about the fact that suppression system would have a small chance of being successful if players didn't coordinate via VOIP. That's why I will propose a feature similar to that in Brothers in Arms...A feature that will ease the usage of the proposed suppression system for those who don't want to coordinate everything via VOIP.

In original Brothers in Arms you could order your fireteam to lay suppressive fire, rally, find cover, and charge the enemy.

I propose similar commands for the Squad Leader, along with new icons (markers) for them. We should also have "pop smoke" here command to encourage use of smoke grenades.

For example this was the suppressing fire order icon in BiA:

We probably don't need the find cover command as people are smart enough to do this by themselves. And we do already have the usual "incoming!".

Some commands could be also added to the squad members' commo-rose in the form of "request" (such as smoke and suppression).

This would be very useful in coordinating your squad, without the use of VOIP. It would add a new dimension to the squad leader as he can now give more specific orders instead of generic "attack here", "defend here", and "move to this position". It would also allow him to convey information of general enemy location to his squad quicker and easier.

Off-Topic / Help with career choosing...
« on: 30-06-2011, 13:06:26 »
So it's that time of my life when I have to choose which career to pursue... But there's a little problem... I can't quite decide what I want to do in my life. At the end of elementary school I couldn't decide either so I went for Gymnasium which gave me a broad array of options to choose. (maybe it was a mistake?  :P). Now I'm facing the same problem. I have always been a very good student, and I can study pretty much everything as I can easily get into any subject and find it interesting... Well except Maths, which I don't really like studying for some odd reason (probably laziness)...

So far I have narrowed my choices to:

Economy:
Pros - I have always been fascinated by the world of finances, stock markets, global goods flow and all that
stuff.

Cons - Unsure future, hard to find a job as economists make the biggest share of unemployed people in my country. I'm not really outgoing and quite shy so that could be a problem in this profession. Also I don't like traveling very much.

Computing

Pros - Much easier to find a job, pays are generally good, I like computers, and find programming an interesting and useful skill to learn in the modern world, although I never took the time to learn it past the basics of basics. More hardware oriented that Informatics (not sure if that is a pro as I don't really have any basics of Electrical engineering)

Cons - Maths is definitely not my favorite subject, although I had an A through my whole schooling, my teacher wasn't the best, he was too permissive and we could always use a paper with formulas on exams so I never learned all of them... Also I don't really know if I have a good foundation in Physics as our teacher wasn't the best either, he often skipped solving of problems and concentrated on theory. He was also sick for a long time so we didn't go through a part of the program.

Law

Pros - if you can find a job, the pay is generally good. No maths  ;)

Cons - A lot of unemployed people with a degree in law, you have to learn a lot of stuff by heart, and some subjects seem boring (Roman law for example), my shyness could prevent me from being a good lawyer

Marine and traffic logistics and management

Pros - sounds interesting

Cons - Not considered a hard college, so I don't know about the pay, shyness

Informatics

Pros - Career in demand, and is expected to rise in the future. Has a choice between business informatics , teacher or Information and communication systems graduate course.

Cons - Lots of Maths and Physics, but they go from the beginning and expand existing knowledge.

So I ask you nice fellows to tell me what is your career, how did you end up choosing it and why do you like/dislike it?
