I think it's because the "fixed" version of bf2editor.exe fucked up sth with it. I personally can't create any gameplay modes in the editor, because there's no such option when I create a new layer...  ::)

Its a logistics thing.
While some may do the stick-on crosshair. It only works sometimes.
Your crosshair doesn't remain perfectly accurate all the time, so part of that time, that fake crosshair won't work because you are most likely the type of person who also bunny-hops and dolphin-dives and so your crosshair hasn't settled.

No, he wasn't such person and usually he had the best kdr playing as infantry on the server... ;)

The problem is that you can draw dot on your monitor and you can now have crosshair :P I know such guy who used to do it by sticking transparent tape with dot on his monitor :D

Played it a bit today - it's a mess... No squads, no teamplay, chaos, strange weapon grinding, strange spawnpoints, poor optimization, etc... BF3 and BF4 are masterpieces comparing to this...

When will people learn to stop making suggestions to the "official" Devs?  They will never do anything you want.  They're not going to add anything to their workload. 

If you ask the right people, your tree or train or obscure battle map might show up in a tournament or event  custom mini-mod.

Agree - like portable AT, AA guns!  ;D

In this file you have defined armies and this setting automatically set these specific armies in the editor. I think you should find easily those lines in the init.con.

You set it outside editor in init.con file. If you don't have it in the map folder simply copy from other map, the best option would be copying  from the map where those 2 factions are fighting. So, you would have already set your spawn kits, because there you also set them!
